Using A Wedding Arch? 5 Tips For A Great Result

Should you add a wedding arch to your ceremony location? The wedding arch provides a beautiful backdrop or frame for the exchange of vows, even serving a few practical purposes. But if you and your fiancé are considering one, you'll want to do some planning for the best success possible.

Here are five tips to put into place as you decide on your wedding arch look.

1. Rent an Arch

Some couples choose to build their own arch DIY. This is understandable, as some arches can appear deceptively simple to construct. However, unless you have the experience and time on your side, doing this yourself is more likely to cause stress and take time needed for other planning tasks. There are many rental arches available, so do yourself a favor and rent a great one.

2. Decide on a Goal

The wedding arch can serve two basic goals. The first is to provide a nice backdrop for the vows. This is important if you're not a fan of the actual scenery behind your ceremony spot. However, the arch can also serve more as a frame to just give structure to your location without blocking views. Decide in advance which goal you want to fulfill, as these are different styles.

3. Repurpose the Arch

Once the vows have been said and you head off to your reception, what becomes of the arch? Repurpose it into a centerpiece of some element of your reception for maximum value. It might welcome guests at the entrance, provide a beautiful background for the sweetheart table, or frame the cake table, for instance. Or use it to solve specific reception decor challenges.

4. Decorate It Together

The actual decoration of a rented arch is a great time to bond with your fiancé or your family and friends. Make it a couple's activity or a group outing with your wedding party. As you design and carry it out together, you'll have more fond memories of it every time you look at the photos.

5. Don't Overthink It

With so many choices possible, it can be easy to become paralyzed or spend too much time second-guessing arch decor choices. It's okay to simply cover it with flowers. But if you want to keep it simple, add fabric draping. Balloons also make a big impact with less detailed work. Or find an arch you love and use minimal extra flowers or tulle to embellish it.

Where to Start

Ready to start planning your own arch? Start by visiting the inventory at a wedding decor rental company in your area today. No matter which you choose, with these few tips, you'll craft something you'll love for a lifetime.
